Festival Rules
- 1. This competition is for amateurs who are defined for this purpose who do not derive their livelihood from the branch of performance defined by the class title in which they enter.
- 2. The organisers have the right to refuse any entry.
- 3. The Adjudicator’s decision is final. No discussion or correspondence concerning such decision may ensue.
- 4. The Organizer may combine classes when entries are small, divide a class where entries are large and have the power to make other regulations or interpret or qualify any of these rules as the occasion may arise.
- 5. For the Dance section competitors must provide their own music on a high quality CD or cassette tape with music ready to play at the beginning of the tape/disc.
- 6. The cassette/disc must be labeled on the correct side with: Name, Class and Number. Tapes/discs must be handed in at the collection point at least one section before the start of a class and collected after the class has finished.
- 7. Dance Section. Entries in the choreography class must be the sole work of the entrants. Entrants may enter up to one solo and one collaborative piece.
- 8. For the Music section of the Festival there is no official accompanist. Performers requiring an accompanist must make their own arrangements.
- 9. The Festival will provide the equipment for all cassette tapes/CD discs to be played on. This may be used and must be operated by a Festival Official.
- 10. Time limits must be strictly observed. If sections over-run the Organiser has the right to stop the performance.
- 11. A performance is not allowed to be re-started over the age of 11 years, except for technical reasons as determined by the Festival Organiser.
- 12. Competitors should report backstage at least twenty minutes before their class is due to commence, The strict order of the programme must be adhered to.
- 13. Music and Drama students are expected to announce their Name and Repertoire prior to their performance. A copy of the sheet music must be made available to the adjudicator. Credit will be given for choice of repertoire and presentation. No jeans or trainers to be allowed.
- 14. Pointe work is not allowed for competitors under the age of 13 years. Acrobatic work is prohibited but gymnastic dance is permitted, provided it is combined with a modern dance technique.
- 15. Only performers and teachers are allowed in the stage wings. There will be no opportunity for rehearsal on stage at any time.
- 16. The Organiser does not hold itself responsible for any injury sustained by any competitor or member of the public whilst on the Festival premises. Parents and Teachers will be held responsible for the behavior of the children in their care.
- 17. Competitors will be admitted free of charge on the days that they are competing. Anyone accompanying a competitor will be requested to pay an entrance fee.
- 18. The age of the Competitor will be taken as on the first day of November. Accuracy is essential. An incorrect age may lead to disqualification.
- 19. Photography/Video filming during any performance is strictly prohibited.
- 20. The Festival reserves the right to refuse any Competitor to dance with dangerous or breakable props.
- 21. The Organiser cannot except any responsibility for property left or damaged at the venue during the Festival.
- 22. Any person or organisation may donate a cup or trophy. These must be returned on the first day of the Festival.
- 23. Festival Fees are not refundable if the competitor does not perform on the day.
- 24. Refreshments must not be taken into the auditorium and mobile phones must be switched off.
SMOKING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED ANYWHERE ON THE SCHOOL PREMISES
